What’s Happening at Lifeline?

Kidsline Takes its 11,000th Call this year

Kidsline has recently exceeded the 11,000 calls mark this year.  2008 will be the busiest year to date for the national telephone counselling service for children.

"There’s been a huge increase in demand for Kidsline’s services in the last few years.  Monthly calls to the number have increased threefold over the last three years.” says Richard Taggart, Kidsline’s Manager.

Luckily, there is no shortage of Buddies to handle calls. Recruitment for the new intake of Buddies closed on 31st October with high numbers of local Year 11 students submitting applications.
Chinese Lifeline

Chinese Lifeline 15th Anniversary Dinner was held on 16th October at Novotel Hotel in Greenlane.  240 friends and supporters of Chinese Lifeline joined us to celebrate the event and raise funds for Chinese Lifeline.Deputy Mayor of Auckland, David Hay, opened the evening by congratulating Chinese Lifeline on its 15 years of service to the community.

Another highlight of the evening was the raffle with the top prizes of a diamond necklace and Gucci handbag.  In total, the event raised over $20,000 for Chinese Lifeline. Our thanks to the many pairs of hands that made the night such a success and to all of those who came along on the night to show their generous support.

Lifeline 24/7

Lifeline 24/7 is preparing for its busiest time of year as we approach Christmas. Increased demand to the 24/7 service over the last year has led us to look at  improvements to our telephone platform. It now loooks likely that TelstraClear likely will assist us in upgrading the telephone platforms.
