Telephone Counselling Volunteers

Lifeline's telephone counselling volunteers come from all walks of life and all backgrounds but share one thing in common ...the desire to make a difference in the community.

Lifeline Auckland has 2 intakes per year for new volunteer telephone counsellors in February and August. The application and selection process takes place in the 4 weeks before the intake starts although we will accept enquiries at any time.

Details of the next training course can be found here together with information on the process of becoming a Lifeline Telephone Counsellor.

Within the pages of this website you will also find information about telephone counselling, Lifeline's history and our expectation of, and commitment to, telephone counselling volunteers

Once accepted, trainee counsellors undertake a comprehensive training course over a 12 week period.

The course includes evening and weekend training sessions and ongoing self reflection and feedback from fellow trainees, tutors and facilitators.

Once training is completed, successful volunteers undertake 3 x three hour telephone counselling shifts per month together with a monthly supervision meeting for ongoing support.

As we are a 24/7 service, we can accommodate evening, daytime and weekend volunteer shifts to fit around your schedule.
